Viscuso Artisan Bakery, Bangsar

February 5, 2019

By Aiman Azri

With Sicilian-born chef Sergio E. Viscuso at the helm, it makes sense to sample the Italian specialities at Viscuso Artisan Bakery, Bangsar's latest destination for doughy delights.

The Macalle is the Sicilian-specific version of Italy's cartocci, a fluffy-soft, spiral-shaped, sugar-showered pastry stuffed with ricotta cream, similar to the filling for the Sicilian island's cannoli (RM5.90), while the Ciambella is a more typical doughnut, boasting 76 percent butter content, not for the faint-hearted (RM4.90).

While takeaways might be the main business here, a limited dine-in space is available for customers to linger over coffee with their carb-laden treats.
