Blankspace by Lumo Coffee, Paramount Garden

Blankspace by Lumo is Paramount Garden’s luminous new canvas for caffeine, creativity and community, a coffee bar that breaches borders with local and international roasters. 

Blankspace is spearheaded by brothers Lucas and Rok and their partner Por Hao, returning to Malaysia after nearly a decade of sharpening their skills in cafes and restaurants in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne.

Their passion shines in sourcing, currently spotlighting KL’s Ari Roastery and Brooklyn micro-roaster SEY, plus respected roasters from Chengdu and Shanghai.

Crusty house-baked banana bread with kitchen-browned butter and orange fennel cake complement filter and espresso-based beverages, plus cold-brew concoctions that channel everything from strawberries and Sichuan peppercorn to mango and dark chocolate. 

The coffee counter is a stone-smooth bridge for conversations between brewers and believers, with thoughtful touches like sound-absorbing ceiling panels and intimate lamp lighting, framed by blinds that cocoon customers in a soothing sanctuary.

With more furnishing en route, Blankspace is still being pieced together, evoking an expressive gallery, its walls expected to evolve with art, now with a sculptural granite-concrete mixed-media masterwork by Yaya Mostapa.
