Launching next month, Shiobee beautifully reimagines a six-decade-old PJ bungalow as a Malaysian interpretation of the classic Korean hanok.

Still a work in progress framed by gravel and gabion, Shiobee is shaping up to be a striking setting in Section 12 for house-baked salt bread and creative brunch fare with contemporary Korean inspirations.

Shiobee’s founders travelled to South Korea to study traditional hanok architecture firsthand. Here, they infuse principles that have shaped Korean homes for centuries: Harmony with nature, seamlessly and serenely flowing between indoors and outside beneath low-slung tiled roofs in a palette of stone, earth and timber tones.
