The Mighty Bowl @ Mercu Summer Suites & Menara Shell
September 4, 2018
Warm, wholesome meals in bowls: When you step into The Mighty Bowl, you'll see a spread of fresh food kept heated in Le Creuset enameled cast-iron cookware. Make your selection to customise your own meal, flavoured further with the restaurant's distinctively unique own sauces.
Petite bowls start at RM16.90 for one carb, one protein, two supplements, one topping and one dressing, while a regular bowl clocks in at RM19.90 for one carb, one protein, three supplements, two toppings and one dressing. The heartiest bet would be The Mighty Bowl, at RM21.90 for one carb, two proteins, three supplements, three toppings and two dressings.
Start with your choice of carbs - herbed cous cous, mixed grains, brown rice or buttered pasta (customers avoiding carbs can opt for a salad base instead). Then, pick your proteins - Cajun chicken, garlic white fish, paprika beef patty, teriyaki chicken, beef stew and grilled salmon (the final two require a surcharge).
Supplements are extensive - baby corn, bell peppers, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, corn, daikon, edamame, pearl onions and zucchini. Toppings prove aplenty too - garlic chips, mixed nuts, pickled ginger, pickled jalapenos, sesame furikake, shaved nori, yam chips, 65-degree egg, avocado, and feta crumb (surcharges apply for the final three).
What makes The Mighty Bowl extra-special are the kitchen-made sauces, creatively crafted to blend nuances from both East and West - think mushroom ketchup, sour pumpkin, Thai basil pesto, garlic chilli, Mighty curry, herbed mixed cheese, and honey sesame sauce. We sampled every sauce, and each one packed a vibrant punch (our favourite is the Thai basil pesto).

Our Mighty Bowl emerged in a princely portion, sufficient for a workday lunch or dinner. With the variety of ingredients, there's little doubt this is a nourishing, nutritionally balanced effort - what sets it apart from many salad bowls or poke bowls is that the ensemble is served warm, with the temperature complementing the taste and textures involved.
