Tail & Fin heads into KL this month with its poke bowls, sushi burritos and sushi tacos, curated by one of Nobu's former executive chefs, Karu Wedhas. The brand first launched in Las Vegas in 2016, specialising in social media smashes like poke bowls presented in pineapple shells - our Pineapple Express showcased a stoner-friendly, strikingly served ensemble of salmon with surimi crab sticks, cilantro, cucumber, and pineapple, of course, flavoured with yuzu miso dressing, in a playful novelty for customers seeking a visual twist on the tried-and-tested poke bowls (RM21.90).
Sushi tacos weren't available yet when we visited, but sushi burritos should be sufficient for folks searching for a light lunch - we picked The Crabby Bastard, stuffed mainly with soft-shell crab, complemented with imitation crab, fried string onions and tomatoes in sweet soy sauce (RM33.50). There are plenty of other crowd-pleasing variations available here for poke bowls, sushi burritos and sushi salads, from the California Curry to the Flaming Tuna, with various stuffings and sauces.
Tail & Fin is slated to open its second Malaysian outpost at The Curve later this month.
