New Hot Food Menu @ Swich, Damansara Uptown

March 28, 2015

Scarcely two months old, Swich's new branch marks a major milestone with the launch of a menu for hot food, conceived by founder Cheng Cheng & cooked by hard-working young chef Chen Long, who's making his entry into the F&B business as part of Swich's efforts to nurture promising talents & help them embark on fresh careers.
June Update: This hot food menu is no longer available at Swich.

If Swich's cakes constitute soul food for the sweet tooth, then its savoury fare is comfort cooking to warm the heart. We've never really loved cempedak, so it's a testament to the undeniable deliciousness of Swich's BBQ chicken - cempedak-marinated & then blanketed in creamy cempedak sauce for a potent double dose of the tropical fruit - that we still finished every bite of this rich but not cloying creation. RM11.90++, served with rice or noodles.

We like the sticky cempedak chicken variation even better - crisply but not too thickly battered, it's meant to replicate the crunch of Korean fried chicken. RM11.90++; Swich's forte has always been orchestrating melodious medleys of tastes & textures, sparking recipes that sing & soar. Now that this cempedak chicken is converting new fans, Cheng Cheng is plotting several more one-of-a-kind concoctions that bank on the bounty of the local land - banana fried rice could be next.

Our favourite though is this: Pumpkin curry chicken, achingly luscious, brimming with pumpkin chunks (soft but not mushy), complex with lemon grass, herbs & spices. Accompanied with rice or noodles for RM9.90++; very likely one of the best things to eat at Damansara Uptown - we would happily have had seconds of this.

Every meal at Swich should end with dessert; the cafe's latest pride is the 'Gooey Gourmet,' featuring a base of dense Valrhona chocolate cake in a mug, topped with premium ice cream, Valrhona ganache drizzle, Korean strawberries & the customer's choice of garnishes (toasted Hawaiian coconut chips? red rose petals? pistachios?). A real treat for north of RM15.

Swich's complete repertoire of cakes remains available; munch with a side of cotton candy on beautifully hand-picked plates while sipping on lavender lime soda, resting on the reassurance that practically everything here is painstakingly prepared in Swich's kitchen from scratch.
