Asa @ Oasis Ara Damansara & Sutaya @ Solaris Mont Kiara

October 20, 2013

Checking out Korean-inspired rice & noodle recipes at two locations, starting with Asa, an increasingly popular spot facing Oasis Ara Damansaras fountains.

Asas rice burger is hearty, but its undermined by the clumpy stodginess of the grains.

Bibimbap, solid comfort food though not a standout here ...

... a description that applies for Asas banchan. Service feels more polished than the food.

Still, theres fulfillment to be found in the booze. Asa serves fruit-spiked flavors of makgeolli rice liquor, including cherry, apple, strawberry & grape ...

... plus Spanish & Aussie wines that cost as little as RM20 by the glass.

Next up, handmade noodles are the theme at Solaris Mont Kiaras Sutaya, where customers can peek into the open kitchen ...

... to find strong-armed staff members painstakingly pressing & pulling ...

... twisting, twirling & stretching _ it looks like a tremendous workout.

The noodles are served in satisfyingly thick, steaming-hot broths ...

... including savory black bean & spicy seafood, very much Korean in flavor.

Avoid this alcohol though; it only costs RM20 per bottle but it tastes lethal.

Asa,
Oasis Square, Ara Damansara.

Sutaya,
15, Jalan Solaris 4, Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
