One World Hotel: International Elite Buffet with Iga Wagyu Beef

March 1, 2020

Beef buffs, bookmark this buffet: One World Hotel in Bandar Utama is offering an all-you-can-eat extravaganza of Japanese Iga wagyu, grilled to order yakiniku-style, every Sunday to Thursday for dinner, throughout this month (starting 3 March).

This is a rare opportunity to relish one of Japan's most coveted varieties of wagyu beef, cultivated in a time-honoured fashion in Mie Prefecture's mountainous Iga city, once renowned for its ninjas.

The feast with the wagyu beef costs RM140 nett per adult and RM70 per child (6-12 years old), inclusive of a smorgasbord of sashimi, seafood and everything else available in the evening buffet at One World Hotel's Cinnamon Coffee House.

Time your visit for maximum satisfaction: The Iga wagyu beef will be served exclusively for 90 minutes per evening, from 7:30pm until 9pm. Each session will showcase a distinctively different cut of beef, specially prepared by One World Hotel's experienced brigade of veteran chefs:

Monday: Iga-Gyu Flank Steak, served with Potato Puree and Garlic Flakes

Tuesday: Iga-Gyu Rump Cap, served with Herb-Fried Potatoes and Hakata Salt

Wednesday: Iga-Gyu Oyster Blade, served with Soft Polenta and Butter

Thursday: Iga-Gyu Chuck Short Rib, served with Caramelised Onions and Garlic Oil

Sunday: Iga-Gyu Rump Cap, served with Herb-Fried Potatoes and Hakata Salt

You can continue to return to the grilling station for as many plates of the freshly cooked wagyu beef as you crave within the session.

Reared in a pristine highland climate, Iga wagyu remains one of Japan's most respected meats, a prized, premium choice that towers over typical wagyu beef offered in KL's restaurants. One World Hotel's chefs do justice to the beef by seasoning it simply with salt, letting its pure essence shine.

Our favourite is the flank steak, the most robust and resonant in flavour, with a firm, full-bodied succulence that's a hallmark of its marvellous marbling, sliced to a thickness that's just right to sink our teeth into.

Every A5-grade top-tier cut is nonetheless worthwhile, boasting a beautiful balance of meat and fat with a clean-nuanced umami. The team ensures the beef won't be overcooked, complementing it with light sauces of teriyaki, sweet balsamic or beef jus. The carb and vegetable accompaniments are also well-selected, pairing perfectly with the protein.

Beyond beef, One World Hotel's buffets promise plenty of poultry pleasure too: Stop by the chicken rice stall for not only steamed or roast chicken but roast duck too, supplying our fix of Chinatown hawker temptations in a much more comfortable setting, with a lovely, leafy view of the hotel's gardens with water features.

The Japanese section doesn't disappoint, with salmon, tuna and octopus sliced to order, alongside grilled fish and sushi.

The buffet menu rotates throughout the month, but if you're fortunate, Cinnamon Coffee House's friendly crew might be carving out some tandoori-style roast lamb leg.

Noodle enthusiasts have a choice of West or East, from pasta in various preparations, such as aglio olio, to possibilities of the evening that might include Sarawak laksa or other Malaysian favourites. If you enjoy watching your food being cooked, there's plenty of action going on throughout the restaurant.

Rest assured, there's something for everyone - prawns, crabs and mussels on ice to dim sum, cheeses and cold cuts to salads and hot, hearty fare, perfect for gatherings of families and friends who want to sample a massive variety.

Desserts could make up a meal on their own, so save space for cakes, fruits and a full-fledged chocolate fountain.

Many thanks to One Hotel for this preview of March's International Elite Buffet with Iga Wagyu Beef.
