Finch KL, Bukit Bintang

September 23, 2021

Finch's alfresco area is a beautiful space for an outdoor dinner, a calm hideout from Bukit Bintang's bustle as day turns into dusk, a wonderland whimsically bedecked with birdcages both big and small, circling a flamboyant, scarlet-blossoming tree.

Modern Japanese inspirations flutter across Finch's introductory menu.

Start with the soft-shell crab salad, crowned with a crunchy, fresh crustacean, cushioned crisply by kyuri, julienne carrots, tobiko, green coral and cherry tomatoes, tossed in sprightly orange sesame vinaigrette (RM28).

Revel in rice for the main course. The Wagyu Truffle Chahan is decadent with succulent morsels of ribeye amid richly savoury fried rice, earthy with truffles and creamy with an onsen egg (RM68), while the Kaisen Don is delicate but even more delightful, spotlighting the grilled goodness of scallops, halibut and tiger prawns, pure and pristine over calrose rice, made extra punchy with lots of ikura (RM78).

Cocktails point to a playful perspective. Down The Rabbit Hole leads us to a buoyant blend of Baileys, Frangelico and Smirnoff Red with vanilla ice cream, honey and half-and-half cream (RM35), while Whimsy Berries is fruity fun with raspberries, bolstered by Hendricks, egg white and lemon juice (RM35).
