Trust the crust: The first bite for the wood-fired, char-spotted pizzas here reveal a tantalisingly textured sourdough base, yieldingly crisp and airy, primed for rich toppings with robust flavours.
If you favour bold-natured pizzas that pull no punches, spring for the Figaro, layered unsparingly with in-your-face goat’s cheese, mellowed nectarously with fresh figs and honey, plus rocket leaves for buoyant balance, rounded out with savoury beef bacon, mozzarella, walnuts and white sauce for a well-tuned interplay of culinary harmony, demonstrating a dependence on diverse ingredients of steadfast quality (RM40+).
An equally full-bodied burger can be braved in the Blue, its bulked-up patty (the moist bonanza of minced beef was our choice, but chicken and falafel patties are offered too) blanketed in creamy blue cheese for uncompromisingly mature intensity, sandwiched with caramelised onions in a fluffy-tender pretzel bun to satisfy our burgerlust (RM33+ with fries). Wash down with a peanut butter and banana milkshake served in a strikingly cool tiki glass, vibrantly refreshing without being cloying (RM14+).
If Crust seems surprisingly confident for a new eatery, that’s because its founders have spent nearly five years nurturing their pizzas-and-burgers craft; Crust is the sister restaurant of Aman Suria’s Patty & Pie, though physically, it looks little like its elder sibling. Families will love this spacious first-floor setting, steeped in sunshine and garlanded in greenery, complemented by a children’s play corner overlooking the streets of Mont Kiara.
