Cow Sense @ Centrepoint & Yung Kee Beef Noodles @ Pudu

February 4, 2017

Cute name for Centrepoints new beef noodle stall (reminds us of how our schoolteachers would scold us): The signature bowl is a solid, fuss-free workmans lunch, with plenty of noodles topped with beef balls, slices & tripe in a mild, clear broth for RM8. Other offerings served here with a smile include dry pulled beef noodles & non-bovine temptations like chicken curry & kurma.

Sundays the best time to check out Pudus popular beef noodle stall - thats when Yung Kees HK-trained show-runner (call him Albert, he says) serves his most sumptuous cuts, with Chinese-bred beef brisket as the potential standout, more chunky, fatty-fleshy & achingly succulent than run-of-the-mill brisket. Its all worthwhile everyday nonetheless, from the shin meat to the tripe & tendons to the delicately sliced U.S. striploin, each telegraphing clean flavours & resolutely tender textures. Albert insists his priority is the beef broth, herb-tinged & umami-rich but not overpowering, literally souping up the tastiness of the meat thats immersed for boiling. Our feast for three persons, complete with lai fun noodles for carbs, came in south of RM100.
