Bizbox Cafe & Business Centre, Petaling Jaya

With a name like Bizbox, combining a cafe and a business centre, customers might expect a stark, sterile space that's purely workmanlike. But this new space is a pleasant surprise, passionately put together by friendly founders Edgar and Jessica - as warm and welcoming, cosy and comforting as home.

Plants and Pos Malaysia come together seamlessly - pick up a potted Peperomia (complete with gardening tools and fertiliser), then pay your bills or send a parcel (Bizbox is an authorised agent for express carrier companies like Skynet).

The cafe is still in its infancy, but it should bloom beautifully - expect artwork by local illustrators to eventually line the walls, setting the scene for social events in the afternoon and tapas with wine in the evening when circumstances improve next year.

For now, Bizbox promises a bounty of baked treats with a twist or three - nectarous apple tarts with savoury hints of cheese in its crust, chewy brown butter chocolate chip cookies, and vegan peanut butter blondies, free of butter, with almond milk for its dairy substitute. Pair with French press-brewed coffee or a bottle of deep-and-dark craft beer.
