Wicked Pancake Parlour @ Batai, Damansara Heights

May 18, 2015

KL's new paradise for partisans of pancakes - who surely feel slighted by the city's bias toward French toasts, tarts & waffles - is through with playing by the rules of someone else's game. Wicked Pancake Parlour hopes you'll trust the instincts of its multi-talented 21-year-old chef (she's sometimes seen literally dancing through life), close your eyes & leap into this Ozdust Ballroom of savoury & sugary stacks - including one Elphaba-coloured pandan creation - & ice cream floats that have been enchantingly changed for the better. Would've been lots of fun to wax lyrical on Wicked & its beauties below, but there's no reason to; Wicked's fans will read about it elsewhere. Rest assured though, Wicked's fare is often fun & occasionally brave - meticulously & mostly masterfully put together. In The Good Witch's words, "Popular! You're gonna be popular!"
Alcohol advice: Bring your own; for wine, corkage is RM40 per bottle.
Ambiance: Conceived & constructed to evoke a witch's den, though much less menacing, with top-to-toe reclaimed wood.
Music: The Beatles, The Jackson 5, Michael Sembello - all terrific tunes. But not a note of Idina or Kristin so far, unfortunately.
