Seafood & more: The Fat Fish surfs into Mont Kiara this week, hooking us with the promise of a vibrant deli-cafe that's poised to be shored up with everything from salmon & scallops to sole & sea urchin, crayfish to cod, roast beef to unagi sandwiches.

 Right now, The Fat Fish is slowly but steadily stocking up; the outlet's passionate founder, Ee Von, encourages customers to start visiting from next week onwards, when the shelves are expected to brim with a wider variety of fresh & frozen produce. Kagoshima beef? Sounds excellent. Eel sandwiches specially created for The Fat Fish by Tommy Le Baker? Even better!

 The kitchen has commenced lunch service - expect a compact selection that changes regularly. This week, there's salmon sashimi, as well as seafood pastas (roughly RM18-RM25), putting salmon & prawns to effective use in marinara & aglio olio recipes. Book ahead by at least two days if you want dinner, prepared by chef Yen Kee, an alumnus of Le Cordon Bleu Sydney - private kitchen meals that span the likes of pea soups, mussels, lamb & red wine chocolate tarts can be requested.

 Always a treat to have oysters; The Fat Fish offers the best of what's available in KL, with the French, Irish & Italian suspects all accounted for in their comprehensively flavourful glory. Bring a bottle of white or sparkling - the corkage is currently RM20.
