New Menu: Steaks & Lobsters @ Desa Sri Hartamas

Over the past four months, Steaks & Lobsters has fast become Desa Sri Hartamas' go-to place for mega-hearty meals of a bovine & crustacean bent. Maintaining its momentum, S&L will soon introduce new temptations that'll keep the crowds coming.

The restaurant pours plenty of thought & extra effort into its recipes, coming up with kitchen-made sauces & other twists to steakhouse staples. Starting mid-December, there will be a few new starters: Don't skip the loaded potato skins, stuffed with rib-eye minced chili & dressed with garlic aioli (RM29; so lip-smacking, we couldn't stop eating them), & the chicken tenders with sour cream & tomato concasse (RM18; battered white meat fillets, crunchy on the outside & tender within, served fresh & hot, offering a pleasing balance of flavours).

For steaks, the upcoming entry into S&L's repertoire is Grass-Fed Truffle Fromage Rib-Eye (RM75+ for 300-plus grammes) - it packs an aromatic wallop of flavour, thanks to the topping of melted cheddar & Monterey Jack cheeses & French truffle paste that memorably complements the steak's savoury succulence. The range of steaks is continuously evolving - the Wagyu MB7 Round Sirloin (RM88) was initially a periodic special, but it'll be on the permanent selection following popular demand. Side dishes for the steak & lobster platters remain a bright spot, with highlights like a guacamole-blanketed potato salad that can be repeatedly replenished without additional charges.

Lobsters aren't left out of S&L's latest upgrades: You can soon order your Boston lobsters with a percik-style sauce for a unique Malaysian enhancement with a rich flavour. But if you prefer to enjoy the juicy-sweet flesh unvarnished, S&L has recently switched to a prime breed of wild-caught live lobsters, ensuring its steamed & grilled options can stand claw-to-claw with KL's most satisfying lobsters. Prices start from RM98+ for lobster servings of at least 800 grammes, with sides & sauces.

Save space for churros (RM18) - S&L's upcoming new dessert is worth it, with a crisp quality that we really like, dense but not stodgy, paired with salted caramel & chocolate sauces, executed in a way that would do a Spanish restaurant proud. It's an encouraging finish to a meal that signals how Steaks & Lobsters keeps getting better; thanks to the outlet for having us back.
