Nasi Kandar King is of noble lineage; its mainly Penang-born founders sourced their recipes from a veteran nasi kandar purveyor in South Seberang Perai. The food here comes in princely portions, flooded with kuah of sufficiently robust, sweet-savoury flavours - the use of nasi minyak makes for a tasty touch, though we'd still love to see more variety in the lauk, especially in the form of, say, cockles, fried fish roe and chicken liver. The streets of George Town still reign for those of us who studied in Penang for three years, but Nasi Kandar King could be next in line to the throne in KL.
