N97 Bangsar

November 12, 2017

Steakhouse staples, served with style to burn: Bangsar's explosively popular new restaurant does justice to a smorgasbord of crowd-pleasing specialities.

First, order a couple of cauliflower-loving starters - a creamy roasted cauliflower soup, given an extra depth of flavour by a blue cheese crumble and herbed garlic biscotti (RM39), and seared Hokkaido scallops with cauliflower parmesan puree and garlic chips (RM58).

The hardworking kitchen keeps the hits coming, showcasing its skills with elaborate offerings like an oven-baked chicken roulade, stuffed with spinach, turkey ham, sharp cheddar cheese and roasted pumpkin puree (RM55), and a crusty tenderloin steak with buttered asparagus and truffle cream (RM139). Our best bet for a sweet finish is the white chocolate molten cake with strawberry basil compote (RM39).

N97's tomahawk steaks (available in wagyu and Angus variants) are the hottest tickets here, but as of early this month, the restaurant had not begun accepting credit cards, so customers had to bring anywhere between RM350 to RM828++ in cash for the long-bone rib steak. Boston lobsters clock in at RM50 per 100 grams.

Service is helpful and friendly.
