La Rambla @ Yap Kwan Seng

August 19, 2012

This watering hole might seem a little unsavory to some, but it attracts a substantial crowd with its friendly service crew and satisfying Italian fare.

The long list of pizzas and pastas will leave indecisive diners in a daze; for something fun, try this calzone-like pizza, supposedly shaped like a dragon.

Break open the dough for a treasure trove of turkey ham, mushrooms, mozzarella and runny egg. It's a messy mix but it tastes better than expected. About RM30.

Cocktails at RM19++ represent a decent deal, especially since their potency is reasonable. Both the Perfect Martini and Dry Martini feel as fulfilling as RM28++ ones elsewhere.

Tequila Sunset and a house red that's definitely easy-drinking.

Tea for teetotalers. Note that live music might kick in after 9 p.m.

Bonus place: desiring more drinks, we hopped over to Changkat Bukit Bintang's Gypsy Bar, which looks a little dodgy these days, but that's happening all over Changkat.

Exactly what we drank is now lost in the mists of our memory.

Sail away with me, to another world, and we rely on each other, ah ah ...
