Even before noon on a weekday, K Fry Urban Korean is packed - a testament to the popularity of this brand that originated in Johor before recently opening in Putrajaya's IOI City Mall.
The Original Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk (RM 48.90) is the best bet if you want some table-side spectacle to jazz up your meal. First, a serving of crispy boneless thigh meat emerges with fries and mozzarella cheese; then, the server melts the mozzarella before enveloping the chicken with it in a swirl of thick, stretchy theatrics. The combination makes for rich, savoury satisfaction, with the chicken remaining moist and crunchy throughout, perfect for sharing and snacking.
For single-plate meals that preserve the Korean fried-chicken inspirations, the kitchen succeeds in supplying some interesting contemporary creations, including the Kimgaru Bokkeumbap (RM19.90; seaweed-and-garlic fried rice with a chicken cutlet and runny egg) and the Flaming K'Dry Noodles (RM 15.90; noodles with popcorn chicken, evocative of the spicy noodle challenges that have come out of South Korea). All in all, it's clear why fans of Korean fried chicken are flocking to K Fry.
