Bangsar South's most irresistibly ravishing restaurant is open - Botanica & Co is a sumptuous vision of Ficus trees standing tall amid a soothingly lush setting that's ideal for leisurely lunches & serene dinners.
Singaporean chef Sam Neoh, who formerly shepherded the kitchen at the city-state's PS Cafe, oversees an oeuvre of crowd-pleasing temptations with contemporary flourishes, offered at reasonable prices. Pizzas are a cornerstone; we're happy to honour the Green Goddess (RM30), a bountiful harvest of kale, broccoli, asparagus, sugar snap peas & smoky pesto with goat's cheese, an homage to vegetarians that's distinctive & delicious enough to warrant the worship of any pizza devotee.
The menu is a passport to cross-border cuisine-hopping, ranging from the Middle East mezze of textured hummus, spicy muhammara & creamy baba ganoush with house-baked flatbread (RM18) to the American hot Reuben sandwich with pastrami, salami, melted Swiss cheese, BBQ sauce & an extra flourish of kimchi (RM32). If there's one underlying, unifying theme, it may be comfort food, in portions constructed for sharing, from the rotisserie chicken with ratatouille (RM32 for half a chicken) to Botanica + Co's interpretation of poutine, with shoestring fries coated in a sauce of beef & gruyere (RM24).
With an alluring ambiance like this, it'd be a shame not to indulge in day drinking - Botanica + Co promises several intriguing cocktails, including the Alphonso (RM35; Cana Brava rum, mango, curry leaves), Carlos (RM30; tequila, mango, pineapple, lime), Frank (RM30; basically a banana mojito) & Botanica Collins (RM85, serving two to four customers; an extra-large Tom Collins with West Winds gin & a bunch of sage, rosemary & thyme). Bonus: Service is a standout here; the team works hard to ensure a warm, positive experience. Expect Botanica + Co to bloom on your social media feed in the weeks ahead.
