63 Roast, Sri Petaling

October 22, 2018

Homemade roasts, literally: Serving roast chicken, siu yok and char siu for lunch everyday in a Sri Petaling house (with roast duck on weekends), 63 Roast makes for a pleasant change from the shop-lot restaurants that dominate this neighbourhood.

63 Roast's chef-founder Kenny Wong spends three hours each morning preparing the roasts at the backyard of this space, relying on recipes he learned from his uncle. The siu yok and char siu are flavourful, the chicken is fleshy and tender, complemented by chilli sauce that's also straight from the kitchen here; the food can be ordered in pretty much any combination - a plate of siu yok and char siu with rice costs RM7, while a chicken thigh with noodles and wontons is RM7.50.

Customers can enjoy their meal either outdoors or inside the house; both sections seem pretty comfortable. Private dining is also offered for groups, with more elaborate roasts - including porchetta and pork knuckles - available by advance bookings.
