Friendster Hub: Now Delivering Healthy Meals

Going green: Friendster Hub, a haven for healthy meals, is helping us turn over a new leaf with deliveries from its branches in Petaling Jaya, Kepong and Setapak. The restaurant specialises in a wide variety of vegetarian-friendly fare that relies on wheat gluten (seitan) as a substitute for meat, fuelling a menu that includes mock chicken, fish and lamb, high in both protein and fibre.

Many of Friendster Hub's recipes come with sides of salad and fruit that can be enjoyed before and after the main course. Friendster Hub's repertoire spans East to West. For fans of local Malaysian favourites, check out the bestseller of Char Koay Teow, based on a preparation by a Penang-born chef, with a side dish and fruit of the day for only RM9.80. Prices are pleasing; the Penang-style Laksa also costs RM9.80, a complete meal with pineapple salsa and vegan-friendly shrimp paste.

 
Bento Boxes make for a fulfilling lunch or dinner. The Taste of Asian packs blue pea flower rice with bean curd prawn, spicy curry seitan chicken, and a sweet turnip and root vegetable stew (RM18.80). The Lemongrass Chicken channels the allure of satay, paired with rice cakes, peanut gravy with a soup of the day (RM16.80). More Mediterranean is the Seitan Mock Lamb Cutlet with saffron rice, hummus and pea salad, ratatouille, and mushroom veloute (RM18.80).

For a more nutritious alternative to conventional fast food, sink your teeth into Friendster Hub's Burger à la viande de Seitan, a worthy, flavour-packed vegetarian substitute for meat burgers (RM19.80), and the Forager’s Favourite, a pleasurable pizza topped with roasted tofu, pineapple, tomato, and mozzarella (RM26.80).
